Made some more visible progress today, although not as much as I had hoped.  It was just too bloody hot (we don't have AC) and it's hard to sew with a fan blowing everything around, so I had to take constant breaks.

What in the hell possessed me to want to do a can-can dress?  LOL  I am already tired of ruffles, and all I have done is cut the 5 million pieces out!!

Oh well, I say it better be worth it and my petticoat turns out amazing.  ;)

tartan
I finally started researching my Scottish can-can outfit, and made my first purchase!  I was looking on ebay for accessories, and came across this beautiful sporran that's simply perfect.  What I am doing for my outfit is taking traditional menswear and making it feminine and a little seductive.  I am using my clan tartan so I can re-use pieces from my regular outfit, so I already have a clan brooch, a tartan sash, tartan ribbons, and the headpiece pascalbijou made me to use.  Plus I have the printed tartan fabric I purchased last year for the outside of my skirt.  I decided that with the colors in my tartan (as seen in the icon with this post) - which are blue, green, red, black, and yellow, that I would use black in my other pieces (undershirt/corset), socks, shoes, and jacket.  I also wanted to incorporate the thistle on the corset and the socks.

So when I saw this black sporran, with black fur to make it look more feminine, AND a silver thistle (my brooch is also silver) at half the price from what I can find from direct sellers, I was escatic!  So I ordered it.   :)  It also comes with the belt and chain, so I don't have to worry about those either.

Another good piece of information is that I found a seller on ebay who makes custom arrows (he had some Legolas arrows up for sale). He also makes bows, so I contacted him about the possibility of having some arrows and a bow made for my Susan outfit, and he said yes!  I am going to provide him with some reference photos, and then I can get an estimate.  His prices seemed very fair on his auctions, so I will keep my fingers crossed.  Now if I could just find the damn fabric and patterns for the dress, and a quiver, I would be even happier.  If I could at least find the fabric, I coould try dying the color.  Although, on closer inspection, the lines in her dress appear to be painted, not embossed into the fabric, so if I could find the lavender color, then I would just have a hell of a lot of painting to do.  I should have known after my first Susan project that her costumes look simple but there is always a twist *cough* velvet etching *cough*
